Birchfield & Humphrey, P.A. is pleased to announce that partner Bruce B. Humphrey has been recognized in the 2019 edition of Florida Trend’s Florida Legal Elite™ in the practice area of Eminent Domain. This is the 10th consecutive year that Mr. Humphrey has been honored with this prestigious recognition.
For more than 16 years, Florida Trend has published the Florida Legal Elite roster, which is widely regarded as one of the preeminent referral guides to the legal community. Each year, Florida Trend invites actively practicing Florida attorneys to nominate the attorneys they hold in highest regard as professionals – those lawyers with whom they have personally worked and would recommend to others for consideration as Florida Legal Elite. Nominees are then vetted by a panel of previous Legal Elite lawyers, representing different practice areas in cities across the state. The resulting 2019 list includes 1,126 lawyers and represents less than 1.3% of active Florida Bar members.
Throughout his 20-year career, Mr. Humphrey has been privileged to represent property and business owners across Florida in every stage of the eminent domain process from pre-condemnation planning to initial offer to trial and appeal. He has assisted individuals and businesses in a variety of complex condemnation cases involving issues such as loss of access, severance damages and business damages.
A former commercial real estate appraiser in Orlando, Mr. Humphrey remains a licensed State-Certified General Appraiser and Member of the Appraisal Institute where he earned the MAI designation. His previous experience as a commercial real estate appraiser in Orlando has been an asset throughout his legal career from analyzing the valuation and land use issues involved in a particular case to negotiating settlements to cross-examining the condemnor’s expert witnesses at trial.
The 2019 Legal Elite roster is available online here and will be published in the July issue of Florida Trend magazine.
