W.O. Birchfield

In Memoriam 1935 – 2016

Admitted to the Florida Bar in 1964, W.O. "Bill" Birchfield brought over four decades of experience in eminent domain to the firm, including representing private property owners and serving as special counsel for the Florida Department of Transportation and Jacksonville Transportation Authority. Mr. Birchfield’s practice areas included eminent domain, land use, mediation, and government relations. He and Bruce Humphrey formed Birchfield & Humphrey, P.A. in 2004.

He had served as Chairman of the University of Florida Law Center Association and had been active in many local civic organizations. He served four years in the Florida House of Representatives, eight years as a member of the Jacksonville Transportation Authority and four years as a member of the Jacksonville Port Authority. He was recognized by the Best Lawyers in America for ten years.
